The Odyssey, Books XXI-XXIV
Hi, everyone hopes you are enjoying doing this course. I have learned a lot in our interactions and looking forward to having more session like this. The discussions were indeed encouraging. The hero always has a big weapon or rather something that stands out in their attacks. The weapons are important so that they can stand out and we base our focus on them as the stories usually revolve around them.
In book 22 all the suitors are killed by Odysseus. He starts by killing the worst suitor and Eurymachos begs him to have mercy on the other suitors, which falls on deaf ears and he goes ahead to kill the others making Eurymachos rally other suitors to fight back. There are more fighting and fewer apologies, yes less talking. He has the power from Athena making him win the battle. He then cleanses the temple and revives it to its initial condition before his disappearance.
I like what happens in book 22 because the evil doers have been brought to book. death would not be the best way but they had caused a lot of pain to the palace because of their selfish character.
Evil must always be punished so as to deter one from a future wrongdoing. This is because one will be afraid of committing the same offense as he or she will be subjected to a given hardship.it should however not be severely harsh as this can result to death or messing up with someone’s esteem completely. They end up in bed to protect him from death. This because people would get to know about the killings and look for him.
Peace must reign at the end because it’s an epic novel. The hero should work towards ensuring that justice is served and peace is restored.
Athena keeps the mentors build and voice because she is a goddess of bravery and battle. She must, therefore, act like one.
